Texting Authorizations
By United States law, you must obtain express written consent from customers before sending them promotional texts. R.O. Writer DVI Suite Configuration provides settings that enable you to have the customer send the texting authorization before your shop texts them. This assists in complying with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA).
The Texting Authorization settings help you obtain the texting authorization message from each customer as well as set up a reply message to the authorization text. A reply to an authorization message is required by law.
There are several ways to obtain authorization.
- You can have the customer sign their consent in the DVI app.
- You can have the customer send a text message to your shop’s texting number to authorize you to send them text messages.
- You can have the customer send the text directly.
- You can have the customer scan a QR code to create an authorization message in their phone’s texting app.
- You can configure R.O. Writer DVI Suite to send customers an automatic reply to authorization texts.
NOTE: Having the customer sign and/or send an approval text message for receiving text messages does not guarantee that you comply with all TCPA requirements.
